I’ve owned my Kubota L35 for a few years.
Today I found my 4WD would not engage.
The lever shifts and the roll pin is not broken
on the shaft to lever entering the gearbox.
How serious is this problem.. A simple fix or
complex repair of the Transmission gear
box? Everything’s been working great until now.
Anyone had this problem? Your thoughts
would be helpful before I get major $’s involved.

Great forum...thanks to all

It wasn't too bad on my Ford. Part of the internal linkage broke (a DPO or dread previous owner problem). It was repaired requiring only removal of an axle housing. I think most 4wd's take off a ring gear in the diff rather than the TX and that might save a split. The symptoms were that the lever traveled much further than normal and the movement was entirely free floating.

If yours grinds but doesn't engage that's a different problem. You've probably had the tractor long enough to know about clutch dread and 4wd front axle wind up. ....
